"You may have traveled thousands of miles to get here, but in this community, you are already home. Together, we don't just share a campus; we bring the entire world to it."
Welcome to the Strathmore International Students' Association (SISA)! As your President, I am deeply honored to serve and advocate for our incredibly diverse student body. Originally from Tanzania, I understand firsthand the excitement and the unique challenges of stepping into a new cultural and academic environment. My own educational journey is rooted right here at Strathmore University, where I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing alongside the rigorous ACCA Accelerate program. My passion for global education and cross-cultural connection was profoundly shaped by my experiences navigating student life across borders. Most notably, participating in an enriching exchange program at the Warsaw School of Economics in Poland gave me a broader perspective on the global student experience. Living and studying in different countries has highlighted the vital importance of having a strong, reliable support system when you are far from home. Drawing directly from these international experiences, I am deeply committed to fostering an inclusive, vibrant, and collaborative community for all international students at Strathmore. My vision is to ensure that every student feels represented, welcomed, and empowered to thrive both academically and socially. Whether you are looking for guidance, cultural events, or simply a home away from home, SISA is here to ensure your university experience is unforgettable.
"“True leadership is creating spaces where people feel seen, heard, and valued.”"
As a Nigerian student who left home to pursue my Law degree at Strathmore University, I understand what it means to start over in a new environment. My decision to join the Strathmore International Students Association was driven by a genuine desire to represent the voices of international students and contribute to building a more connected and inclusive community. As Secretary General, I aim to help create a space where no one feels like they have to navigate this journey alone, because every student deserves to feel supported, valued, and like they truly belong.
"“Diversity is our story. Communication is our power.”"
""Being an international student means carrying your culture with pride while learning to understand the world through others.""
Originally from Tanzania and pursuing Actuarial Science, the journey began with a simple belief: leaders are made, not born, and personal growth is shaped through experience, discipline, and persistence. Every challenge encountered along the way contributes to that process. To fellow international students, do not limit your experience abroad to the classroom. Work hard in your studies, but also take the time to explore opportunities beyond academics. Engage in activities, join communities, and challenge yourself to step outside what feels familiar. The experiences you gain and the people you meet often shape your future just as much as the education itself. Being an international student is not only about earning a degree: it is about growth, resilience, and discovering possibilities that extend far beyond where you started.
""Positions are temporary. Titles are limited. But how WE treat people will always be remembered.""
All the way from Cameroon, I arrived in Kenya carrying more than just a suitcase. I carried a story, my culture, hopes, and curiosity about the world and the people just like you here. Between new classrooms, new friendships, and new experiences, I discovered something powerful: diversity is not just something we live around, it is something we grow through. As Vice President of the Strathmore International Students Association, I want to remind you that YOU BELONG HERE I believe that together, we are not just forming a community for today, but building a home away from home for many who arrive after us. And my hope is that through this journey, each of us finds belonging, purpose, and a voice that feels truly seen.
"“Discipline and consistency turn small efforts into great achievements.”"
A Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) and ACCA student at Strathmore University. I began my academic journey in 2021, pursuing a Diploma in Business Management. Coming from humble beginnings in Kampala, Uganda, I have built my journey through discipline, consistency, and a strong desire to grow. As the Treasurer of SISA, I am deeply committed to serving the International student community at Strathmore. I strive to support students in any way possible through organizing impactful initiatives, creating an inclusive and supportive environment where every student feels valued and empowered.
"We lead, we serve, we rise as one, our legacy lives in what we’ve done."
Mazin El Mubarak, a Bachelor of Commerce student at Strathmore University and a student leader committed to building inclusive, connected communities. Inspired by the idea of creating a “home away from home” for students from diverse backgrounds, he focuses on strengthening unity and enriching the student experience. His leadership is grounded in the belief that lasting impact comes not from titles, but from building systems, empowering people, and creating structures that endure. He has contributed to expanding student engagement through strategic communication, stronger collaboration with institutional bodies, and the introduction of structured processes that support continuity and sustainable growth. Through community-centered initiatives, cultural programming, and large-scale student events, he has helped cultivate a vibrant and inclusive environment that celebrates diversity while fostering connection and shared purpose. Mazin’s approach to leadership is service-driven: creating spaces where others can grow, lead, and thrive. His work is guided by a focus on unity, disciplined execution, and long-term organizational development, with an emphasis on building institutions that remain impactful over time. He continues to advocate for environments where individuals move beyond familiar circles, embrace diversity, and grow together as one community.
